I am in love with the idea!!! An idea so unique… we have “Women’s Day” to appreciate the existence of women… but to acknowledge their journey is just something else. This has just simply taken me to another level. Thank you Ponds for such an amazing event.
100 women, 100 Journeys! Powerful and successful! 100 miraculous journey indeed. 100 stories to tell, 100 stories to hear, to learn from and to get inspired by.
100 women to move you emotionally these are souls! They are real! We were introduced to them through a video biography and I think that’s really cool. I could feel their pain when they spoke about their struggle and at the same time I felt very proud of them for coming this far and achieving so much!
I cry at movies, I cry watching Master chef and these were real people with real story, how was I to hold it back in? I congratulate these women and all the women struggling in pain or successful and happy for not giving up! I salute you all!
Lets get started with the event now.
Mostly dressed in maroon and black with a touch of silver GRACING the red carpet…
Beautiful successful women of Pakistan!
brave and courageous… against all odds… and here they were together on one platform right in front of you. This is the future… This is hope!
The event started off with the red carpet at Mahhotta palace, lit up with beautiful fuchsia LED’s.
Zeba appa and Imran sahab entertained us through out the night by talking to each other… ofcoz the topic was women. They made us giggle pleasantly and oh the grace that Zeba appa carries! Anyways, they took us back in time, talking about airhostesses of PIA … their style and elegance. And I have to admit to that being really true… Airhostesses were super cool!
Those little hat with folding dupattas and ofcoz the wide painchay walay shalwaars.
Ali Khan was our host… making the entire announcement and I just couldn’t understand what is wrong with people not wanting to clap. Thanks to Ali Khan for constantly reminding the audience that! I think he was really good at that.
And now the performances…
We had Zoe singing us a song with dancers performing around her.
Next up was Asrar who energetically entertained us with a song and then we had Humaira Channa singing to us with a dance performance choreographed by Brekna.
There was one thing common about these songs although they were all from different genre and that was the lyrics… such strong meaningful lyrics.
These 100 women were divided into 10 groups, each group was called onto the stage with their respective mentor and the list of the miraculous mentors goes here:
1. ANILA WELDON
2. ATIQA ODHO
3. CHEF SHAI
4. MAHEEN KARDAR ALI
5. RUKAIYA ADAMJEE
6. SAEEDA MANDVIWALLA
7. SAMINA PERZADA
8. SHAMAEEL ANSARI
9. TASNEEM NAKHODA
10. VANEEZA AHMED
the event came to an end after all the women were called up onto the stage to sing the national anthem together, yup all of them together!
Followed by a selfie moment and dinner!
I don’t know if they managed to get every one into the photo but from where I was seated… I sure do have some clicks for you guys!
A little about the dinner…
sweetest things in life must come first! (:
Crème Brule to dye for… Err stupid spell check! Die*
Chocolate moose not as good as crème Brule but still good 🙂
In fact very good if not compared with each other.
Freshly baked Nan bread… it was one of the best Nan bread I have eaten. Soft, moist, perfect chewy consistency and the aroma from the coriander, sesame and butter simply OMG!
The medium rare steak slices cooked to perfection…I don’t know who took care of the food but hey who ever you are! 2 thumbs up!!!
feta cheese and olive salad… very surprised at the freshness…
the bbq however I choose to be silent about.
It was an Amazing event with good entertainment and excellent food.
